sustainable responsibility

For more than 25 years, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has been an environmental leader in eco-friendly tourism. Together with the sustainability initiatives developed by Accor, we challenge our guests, colleagues and partners to take measurable actions to minimize our hotel’s impact on the planet. Below are just a few of the ways Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is working towards becoming a leader in sustainable hospitality.

Living Sustainably

Not only do our resort gardens provide ingredients our chefs utilize in our restaurant dishes, they are also preferred by many pollinating species such as hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Sonoma is in the middle of the migratory path of Monarch butterflies, and by providing insects with habitat is among the most beneficial ways to help protect and promote the species.

Reducing Waste

We have made a pledge to reduce waste by eliminating single-use plastics resort-wide. You will notice these changes in your guest room with the use of large format Le Labo® toiletries and recyclable coffee pods, as well as the elimination of plastic silverware, straws and packaging. Guests will also find stations throughout the resort providing cold, filtered water to refill personal water bottles.

Supporting Local

Buying from local farmers, vintners and producers reduces our carbon footprint as less pollution is created during transport. It also helps the local economy grow and thrive.

Education & Staff Growth

The Fairmont Sonoma Educational Scholarship Fund was created to support team members and their families pursue high school or college education, and/or participate in extracurricular activities that assist the pursuit of further education. We believe that limitless opportunities are for everyone.
